Learn to Paint with Watercolors
Capture the beauty of the world around you in a loose and fluid style using watercolors!

In This Class, You'll Learn:
In this course, we will focus on how to work from a photo, color mixing, brush techniques, layering, and using the materials.
We go over how to find the perfect subject to paint, techniques for better composition, editing tips, how to manage the amount of time it takes to paint your piece, and how to apply "the finishing touches."
Students will receive positive feedback and lots of 1-on-1 guidance from the instructor. You'll walk away with confidence and a greater understanding of how to create beautiful paintings in the watercolor medium. -
Supply List for Students to Bring:
This is a studio class and students will be using their supplies on the first week.
- Fabriano Artistico Enhanced Watercolor Block in 140lb white cold press paper, 9x12 size (glued on all 4 edges so you don't have to stretch the paper)
- Winsor & Newton Cotman 16 half pan complete pocket set (comes with 6 mixing palette areas, mini brush, and a kneaded eraser)
- Princeton Velvetouch 3950 Set of 4 Brushes (comes with 4 round, 8 long round, 3/8" angled shader, 3/4" wash)
- HB graphite pencil or a No.2 pencil
- rags or Blue Shop Towels

About the Instructor
Kristen Guest
Kristen Guest is an award-winning, full-time abstract artist and art instructor in Southern California. She graduated from art school at Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Art Education, that focused on painting, book arts and printmaking, and has been teaching realism painting since 2004 and abstract painting since 2018. Kristen currently works in three mediums: acrylic, oil, and colored pencil.
Kristen lives in Poway, CA where she works out of her home studio. She is a mentoring artist and the Director of Education for Art on 30th, an art center in the North Park district of San Diego, CA.
Her work is currently represented through Janssen Artspace in Palm Springs CA and Libby Silvia Artstyle in Wellesley, MA (Boston area). Kristen’s work has been on exhibit with Ashton Gallery in San Diego CA, The Athenaeum Arts & Music Library in San Diego CA, Sandstone Gallery in Laguna Beach CA, Huntington Beach Art Center in Huntington Beach CA, Borrego Art Institute in Borrego Springs CA, Arc Gallery in San Francisco CA, Port Angeles Fine Arts Center in Port Angeles WA, Jen Tough Gallery in Santa Fe NM, Woman Made Gallery in Chicago IL, and Saatchi's The Other Art Fair Los Angeles.
