Beginning Lino Block Printmaking

Capture the Beauty of Flowers
In this class, discover how to create texture, value, and depth using the basics of lino block printmaking and simple watercolor washes to create your own beautiful floral bouquet of color and capture the essence of spring time!

In This Class, You'll Learn:
Create a set of colorful and unique floral paintings from start to finish using your own photographs or live flowers as subjects!
First, we'll go over how to draw the flowers and the transfer process for getting our drawings onto our lino blocks for carving. Kasey will even help you with choosing a subject and the best composition for your piece.
Next, we'll cover all the basics of carving a lino block and spend time bringing our flowers to life.Then, we will learn how to capture the vivid colors of your flower subjects using watercolor paint.
Finally, we'll put it all together to create one-of-a-kind botanical works of art.
Students will walk away with a batch of prints and can choose to carve as many different flowers as they choose. All skill levels welcome. -
Supply List for Students to Bring:
This is a studio class and students will be using their supplies on the first week.
- $65 materials fee paid directly to the instructor (Kasey will provide what you need for the class)

About the Instructor
Kasey Leung
Kasey Leung, owner of MOS Designs, is a San Diego-based printmaker, artist, and adventurer. Inspired by time spent surfing, climbing, snowboarding, and everyday outdoor moments, she creates hand-carved prints using bold flowy lines and imperfect shapes to capture movement and nostalgia. Her creative process is guided by curiosity, courage, and connection - values that shape both her art and her time exploring outside. Kasey loves sharing the craft of block printing and helping others bring their own ideas to life.
