Wabi Sabi Art
Saturday Workshop with Kristen Guest
Find Beauty in Imperfection
Explore abstract techniques that celebrate texture, age, and the quiet elegance of imperfection. Where flaws becomes features. Often described as "modern rustic," this style feels organic, timeworn, and deeply human.

In This Workshop, You'll Learn:
In this workshop, we will learn to add texture and meaning in our art using ephemeral, handmade papers, and found materials while embracing the Wabi-Sabi ideology of imperfection through aging and letting things be "natural."
Wabi-Sabi is a forgiving approach that celebrates so-called mistakes and fosters an experimental spirit, encouraging artists to build up and tear back with abandon. It values authentic and aged—often featuring muted, earthy colors, irregular shapes, and asymmetry. We'll spend some time looking at artists who create in this kind of "modern rustic" art style, like Scott Bergey and Serena Barton.
Students will walk away with a set of two 12x12 mixed media paintings to cherish. -
